Interior Designing Mistakes That Should Be Avoided

Even the highly qualified interior designers can make mistakes which ruin overall design in such a way that you wouldn’t be able to figure out what is wrong. Good news is that these aren’t usually the big mistakes that would make you consider the redesigning of interior space. Nevertheless, you will need to look at design elements after making some research to know about the prospects which make a design impressive.

Here are some common mistakes which can devalue overall interior design.
  • If the artwork would be hanging too high on the walls, it will make it difficult for the visitors to look at those pieces because it would require them to elevate their heads. On the other hand, artwork hanging at the average eye level is not only easy to look at but it would also enhance the aesthetic properties of interior space.
  • Too small size of the rug isn’t going to help in enhancing decoration of interior space. Therefore, make sure that floor area is covered by a rug of appropriate size.
  • Make sure that furniture is of appropriate size according to the scale of the room. Bigger sized furniture looks great in the display centers but what really matters is how good it would look in your room. If your room’s scales are allowing the bigger furniture to be placed inside, there is no reason for not going to have that furniture in the room.
  • Although lighting is usually considered after every aspect of design is worked upon, it’s a serious mistake to think of it as an accessory. In fact, good lighting makes a good display of the room’s design. There are many shades of lighting you can choose from keeping the room’s design pattern in consideration.
  • Texture plays as important role as color. Hence, working only on colors, while ignoring textures, can make a design awful. There are so many ways you can texturize your interior design without breaking the budget. If you are interested in wall paneling, you can get faux stone panels. If you just want to stick with the paint, you can apply texture painting.
  • It’s a good thought to match the design patterns but it would be a mistake to match everything in the room. In fact, adding some vibrant colors can enhance aesthetic properties of the room.

Although the above mentioned points are not the hard and fast rules but these suggestions definitely explain how you can avoid designing your room terribly.
